Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Medox Healthcare and Research Centre Ltd is led by Dr. Edward Augustine Magwe (PhD), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who provides overall strategic direction, executive leadership, and scientific oversight for the organization.

Dr. Edward Augustine Magwe is a public health epidemiologist, pharmacist, and academic leader with extensive experience in healthcare research, higher education, and health systems strengthening. He holds a PhD in Public Health Epidemiology, a Master’s degree in Environmental Health, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy, providing a strong interdisciplinary foundation spanning clinical, environmental, and population health sciences.

Dr. Magwe previously served as Director of the Institute of Health and Allied Sciences at Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) from April 2021 to December 2025, where he provided strategic academic and administrative leadership. During this period, he led the successful planning, accreditation, and implementation of multiple health training programs, significantly contributing to institutional growth and sustainability.

He is also a Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Senior Collaborator with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington, contributing to global disease burden estimation, data analysis, and evidence generation to inform health policy and decision-making at national and international levels.

As a researcher, Dr. Magwe has authored and co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications, predominantly as first or corresponding author. His research focuses on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, health systems preparedness, maternal and child health, WASH, and health equity, with a strong emphasis on resource-limited settings.

He has also participated in international academic mobility, including an Erasmus+ research fellowship at the University of Palermo, Italy, where he engaged in advanced research, proposal development, and interdisciplinary collaboration in public health and behavioral sciences.

As Chief Executive Officer of Medox Healthcare and Research Centre Ltd, Dr. Magwe provides strategic leadership and scientific oversight, ensuring that the organization delivers rigorous research, high-quality health services, and socially responsive solutions aligned with national and global health priorities.
